In an attempt to simplify my life, I will be phasing out this blog and posting exclusively to my NING blog for Winterfell.

Traveling Prim Project - Little Prim, Big World

Okay this is cute and fun and I challenge ALL of you to try it! Post a link to your entry here in comments... I will post mine as well :D

Official Traveling Prim Project page

0. The Basics

Make a 2 inch cube, and show the prim your real life. Take pictures and/or video of the experience and submit them to the relevant Flickr and Vimeo groups. Read on for more details.

1. How to Make your RL prim

Here are two templates: with text and without. Customize your cube however you like. If you don’t have a printer, you can make your own! Use any materials that are handy — wood, cardboard, cheese, anything works. Here’s a video of me (not me Serra, but the contest host) finishing up my prim cube.

2. Show your prim your world.

Use a camera, a webcam, a DV cam, whatever you have or want to use. Your prim has never been to the big RL before. Give it the full tourist experience. Share as little or as much as you want with your cube.

3. Document the experience.

Documenting the experience is key. Before anything, drop a full perms prim cube on Ryoken Vendetta inworld so it can be used in the eventual gallery space (slurl to follow soon).

Here’s how to get your cube’s experience(s) on this site:

* Pictures? Upload to Flickr and add them to the group.
* Videos? Upload to Vimeo and add them to the group.
* Stories? Blog em. Let Ryoken Vendetta know and he’ll add your blog for syndication. Tag your posts with “Traveling Prim Project.”

4. Share and connect.

Check back often. As people upload their experiences, they’ll show up here in real time. Visit the gallery space inworld (slurl coming soon) to watch the gallery grow. Encourage all your friends to take part by spread the word however you can.

Let’s see how long we can keep the project going. However, please start documenting before May 1st.

My final grade will be given on May 4th.

SL Burnout

*heaves a heavy sigh* Just saw this video on my friend Gabrielle Riel's blog Songs from The Nightingale

Quote from Gabi's blog: This stunning machinima "AWOL", was created by Lyric Lundquist. She says that Bettina's post on "SL is Killing Me" perfectly explains what she is portraying here.

I have always know that there was SL burn out, I have been fighting it for just over a year now. I can't deny that there are still glimmers and streaks of joy for me in SL, but there area also shadows and fissures of disappointment and defeat as well. I am lucky to have a small but very diverse and supportive network of people keeping me going.

To those of you who keep me going, you know who you are, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can't promise that I can keep going for ever, but with your help, I will do my best not to let you down.
